Questions created for Front at Droog Design in Amsterdam

International Festival was in October 2005 commissioned by the Swedish design stars Front to submit 300 questions concerning design in contemporary discourses. The questions were to be printed on plats, glasses and table cloth for, what Front, has baptised a dinner performance, including speed dating and blind dating transformed into the most efficient show in design history.

The questions took its departure from notions of distribution, accountability and ownership in relation to design today, which conceptual level brought interest to new modes of production, temporality etc. With the questions by International Festival a oblique collaboration between design and its focus on object and performance which traditions lean on an obsession with disappearance, but more central is how the activity of dinner through the visibility of the questions produce the dinner as a performance, or rather what becomes visible is the performance of dinner in the particular contexts and in general. What kinds of exchange is possible and how do we engage in this passing of information?

International Festival experience this collaboration as extremely positive hence notions of consensus was minimized in front of the conceptual commission.
International Festival provided sets of questions which through a process of fastening become some kind of productive documents, an open script for a performance which when performed yet had received no name.
