International Festival Award is a newly founded award honoring extraordinary contributions in the fields of architecture and performance, establishing territories where seemingly contradictory expressions and modalities of production shape our common future through dynamic engagements, pro-active construction, shape-shifting production and unconditional generosity.

International Festival is a platform engaged in collaborative processes and productions within the cultural sector, initiated by the architect Tor Lindstrand and performance related artist Mårten Spångberg. International Festival is an expansive site of activity, currently with contributors in fourteen countries active in site/context specific projects from interventions to large-scale architectural and organizational structures. International Festival, operate from Stockholm in a variety of local and international contexts, focusing on transformation of structures of production, distribution and ownership, challenging models for stimulation and empowerment of individuals and communities. International Festival Award seeks to stimulate other cultural and corporate producers to acknowledge fundamental ethics of production as well as a responsible relation to our natural and human resources.

International Festival Award is a prize in two segments, one part offered to a research agency or institute for terminally ill individuals, and one part is awarded to an artist or a group. The 2006 award, presented in collaboration with Perfect Performance, consists of 10 000 SEK, and will be presented at the final party of Perfect Performance at Kulturhuset in Stockholm. International Festival Award 2006 is awarded to Anders Jacobson and Johan Thelander with 5 000 SEK, together with a contribution of 5 000 SEK to Blodcancerfonden in Sweden.

The jury's motivation:

Anders Jacobson and Johan Thelander receive the price for their wide-ranging research activity in the field of dance and performance, for their penetrating contributions into collaborative methodologies and their unconditional generosity concerning process and production. Anders Jacobson and Johan Thelander have with the innovative project "Produkt" radically rejuvenated, initially, the local and regional dance and performance climate, but also the international scene. International Festival wish to underline that the prize honors Anders Jacobson and Johan Thelander, not foremost for their artistic contribution, but for their concern with the expression and a prolific future for dance and performance on a structural and strategic level. International Festival hope that this prize can stimulate to further efforts and that those efforts can spread to others in the field. International Festival value Anders Jacobson and Johan Thelander as role models of the expression, individuals that are invaluable to the longevity of dance and performance.
